Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposal on "one nation, one election", or simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls, is meant to divert people's attention from key issues concerning them, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Friday.

Questioning promptness of the Modi dispensation in discussing such a crucial issue within one month of it assuming office for a second term, he said the priority should have been on matters such as unemployment and welfare of downtrodden people.
