‘Nothing for TS in President’s address to Parliament’

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and Nalgonda MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy termed President Ramnath Kovind’s address to the joint session of the Parliament as a big disappointment for the people of Telangana as no assurance was given by the Centre on the promises made in the A.P. Reorganisation Act.
In a statement here, he said the President's address to the Parliament in 2004 during the Congress-led UPA government had given its commitment on granting statehood and subsequently fulfilled it despite several hurdles and sacrifices. However, after the BJP government took over, Telangana did not get its due share from the Centre in the last 5 years, he said.
He said the President’ s address did not touch upon crucial issues and it was full of praise for the BJP, without naming it. The UPA-I and UPA-II were totally stable governments unlike what the President said and in fact, India had witnessed highest-ever growth under UPA regimes. The country became an economic power under the leadership of Dr. Manmohan Singh while many revolutionary laws like RTI, RTE, Land Acquisition Act were enacted during the 10 year period.
