Thousands of crores diverted to Naidu’s benamis: Minister

Minister for Animal Husbandry, Marketing and Fisheries Mopidevi Venkata Ramana has alleged that thousands of crores of rupees have been diverted into accounts of “benami” loyalists of former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in the garb of construction of capital Amaravati. Addressing presspersons here, the Minister said the State government would order a probe into the irregularities in the allotment of lands and awarding of projects to contractors. On Tuesday, Municipal Administration Minister Botsa Satyanarayana said in the Assembly that projects in Amaravati would be reviewed.
‘Inferior quality works’
Mr. Rao said that as there were several allegations against the previous government, some of the projects had been put on hold. “Look at the complex housing the Secretariat and Assembly. The previous government paid ₹10,000 per square feet and the quality is inferior. Our government has never been against the Capital, and the Governor’s address has all the assurances regarding the Capital,” he said.
