‘Will consider Oppn. views on Amma Vodi’

HRD Minister A. Suresh on Tuesday said the government would take the views of the Opposition party into consideration while implementing the ‘Amma Vodi’ programme.
He was responding to MLC V. Balasubramanyam, who urged for effective steps to prevent misuse of the scheme, as part of a discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the Governor’s address in the Legislative Council.
The Minister said the government would ensure value-based and quality education with a special focus on mid-day meal scheme. He said the government would also adopt a policy on private institutions. He said the government would leave no stone unturned to strengthen the school education system.
Mr. Balasubramanyam welcomed the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy government’s promise to enforce prohibition in phased manner and said his party would extend full support for it. He also appreciated constitution of the State Education Fee Regulatory Commission to provide quality education with reasonable fee and an expert committee for a comprehensive review of the status of healthcare in the State, headed by former IAS officer K. Sujatha Rao.
