Manipur police have arrested a man for allegedly falsely claiming to be the official spokesperson of chief minister N Biren Singh on Facebook.
The man has been identified as Mansoor Alam of Keirang area in Imphal East district of the state.  40-year-old Alam allegedly posted fake news about the government.
Alam reportedly confessed to his misconduct before Imphal East police on Monday. 
A statement issued from CMO on Sunday said that “fake news was being circulated in social media by one Mansoor Alam, claiming himself to be the official spokesperson of the CM.”
The statement clarified that “neither the CM nor the CM’s office Manipur has any official spokesperson and Mansoor Alam is not connected in any way whatsoever with the functioning of the CM.
