State mulls introduction of IIRC

In a major move aimed at curbing the menace of illegal immigrants, the State government is mulling introduction of Indigenous Inhabitants Registration Certificate (IIRC).
This was stated by Transport, Railways, Civil Aviation & Land Resources minister P Paiwang Konyak during a review meeting held at deputy commissioner’s (DC) conference hall at Mon on Thursday.
For this, Paiwang has asked the Mon district administration to be fully prepared to act against illegal immigrants.
As per the recommendations of the Committee on Inner Line Permit (ILP) report, the Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN) will be a master list of all Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland.
However, the committee was of the view that it will require an extensive survey, with the help of village and ward wise list of Indigenous Inhabitants based on official records and prepared under the supervision of district administration.
The list of Indigenous Inhabitants will be published in the respective villages and wards which will then be authenticated by village and ward authorities under the supervision of the district administration. A period of 30 days will be given for any claims and objection after the publication of the provisional lists.
The respective DCs will then adjudicate on the claims and objections, based on official records and evidence produced, and the list of indigenous inhabitants will be finalized and each indigenous inhabitants will be issued a unique ID, the report stated.
