Gujarat scraps Navratri Vacation for Schools and Colleges on 'popular demand' from private schools
The Gujarat government on Thursday cancelled the eight-day Navratri vacation announced earlier for the state-run or affiliated schools and colleges following an opposition from the self-financed schools.
For the first time, the BJP government had declared holidays during the Navratri on 'popular demand', last year. This year as well, the state government had announced that an eight-day vacation will be given between September 30 and October 7. However, after taking into consideration the views of the management of several schools that were against the decision to giving vacation, the state government during its cabinet meeting on Thursday, decided to scrap the holidays earlier announced for the schools and colleges of the Gujarat board.
