Following the AIADMK’s success in retaining its government, party coordinator and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam on Monday used a punch dialogue from a Rajinikanth-starrer, saying, “God will always test good people but never let them down.”
He claimed Muslims were with the ruling party [despite the AIADMK aligning with the BJP].
Speaking at an Iftar organised by the AIADMK, Mr. Panneerselvam said God will always give a lot to people who are not good but will eventually abandon them. Referring to certain comments on social media about the results of the Lok Sabha polls and the byelections to 22 Assembly seats, he said, “God did not let us down, and our Muslim brethren haven’t let us down either.”
“Some people are dreaming of ruling Tamil Nadu, but it will never happen,” Mr. Panneerselvam said, without mentioning anyone.
PMK founder S. Ramadoss, DMDK treasurer Premalatha Vijayakant, TMC leader G.K. Vasan, leaders of other alliance parties and AIADMK’s senior functionaries attended the Iftar.
