Preparations for counting of votes for LS polls in final stage

In Chhattisgarh, preparations for counting of votes for Lok Sabha elections are in the final stage. This is the first Lok Sabha election where EVM results will be matched with VVPAT slips.

In 2014 Lok Sabha polls, VVPATs were used for a pilot run in eight of the 543 Lok Sabha constituencies but there was no tallying done.  The tallying process will only start after the last round of counting.

Chief Electoral Officer of Chhattisgarh Subrat Sahoo said that random matching of VVPAT slips with EVMs will take place in five polling booths per assembly segment.
