Even as most exit polls today favoured the BJP to win the recently held Lok Sabha elections, there was a tossup between the different polls as to what the outcome might be in Nagaland state.
For instance, both the Times Now, The India Today Group and NewsX exit polls predicted that the Indian National Congress could secure a win in Nagaland state. Meanwhile, NDTV and Republic TV in their polls favoured a victory for the NDA in the state
While the BJP is in alliance with the ruling NDPP dispensation, ever since the Congress lost its long held power in the state in 2003, the party has struggled to gain ground in Nagaland.
