Governor alone cannot take a decision on Rajiv Gandhi assassination convicts: TNCC chief

TNCC president K.S. Alagiri said though the Supreme Court had ruled that the Governor could take a decision on the release of the convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, it had not suggested any particular decision on the part of the Governor.
“The Supreme Court has not said whether the Governor should act on the recommendation of the State government or the Union Home Ministry. The Governor alone cannot take a decision,” he said, and alleged that fringe groups and individuals who demanded the release of the convicts made the case more complicated.
