Extremely severe cyclonic storm ‘Fani’ weakened into a very severe cyclonic storm after making landfall near Puri on Friday between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. It moved further north north-eastwards and lay centred about 25-km north-east of Bhubaneshwar (Odisha) and 170-km south south-west of Baripada (Odisha) by afternoon. It is likely to move north north-eastwards and weaken further into a severe cyclonic storm during the next six hours. Thunderstorm, accompanied by gusty winds, with speeds reaching 60 kmph and gusting up to 70 kmph, and lightning are likely in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts till Saturday. Heatwave conditions are very likely in East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore districts of coastal A.P. and in all the districts of Rayalaseema during the same time.
