Lok Sabha elections: TDP to campaign against BJP outside Andhra Pradesh

For the first time since its inception, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will officially campaign in other states this general elections. Unlike during the 2018 Karnataka assembly polls wherein the party campaigned against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unofficially, the TDP will officially take its cadre to Tamil Nadu and Karnataka for its anti-BJP campaign, said party leaders.
“We have asked our cadre to go to the neighbouring states (Tamil Nadu and Karnataka) to campaign against the BJP. Last year, our campaign during the Karnataka assembly elections was all unofficial and online. But this time, we will use our party flags. Our leader
(TDP supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu) told us in a teleconference on Monday to start the campaigns," a senior TDP leader, who did not want to be quoted, told Mint.
Miffed with the Centre over funding-related issues in Andhra Pradesh (AP), the TDP broke its alliance with the BJP and later began an online and offline campaign against the former, primarily in areas which share a border with AP. TDP workers had also conducted community meetings with Telugu settlers from Karnataka, asking them not to vote for the BJP.
