State Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) president Naveen Jaihind has maintained a distance from electioneering of Independent candidate Digvijay Chautala, supported by the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP).
Jaihind, who is active on social media, is almost silent ever since the AAP leadership from Delhi announced its support to Digvijay. Political observers say it appears to be another case where the central leadership of the party has overruled the state unit.
“It is important to note that when AAP’s Rajya Sabha member Sushil Kumar Gupta announced support to Digvijay in Jind on Monday, Jaihind was conspicuous by his absence from the press conference. He has neither made any statement in support of Digvijay nor sought votes for him,” an election observer said.
