If a party wanted to forge an alliance with the AIADMK, the ruling party should also be up for it and consent and consensus was necessary at all levels of the party, Fisheries Minister D. Jayakumar said here on Thursday.
“If they want to have an alliance, we should also like such an alliance. That is important. Both consent and consensus are necessary,” Mr. Jayakumar said when asked about the possibility of an AIADMK-BJP alliance in Tamil Nadu for the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
“As for consensus in our party, headquarters functionaries, the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister and senior functionaries at all levels should come together and decide at the general council and the executive council over the alliance. Our Chief Minister has also said so. Let the elections come and you will get to know first,” he said.
