Cabinet okays 4 suburban rail corridors

The State Cabinet on Thursday, finally, approved three metro rail projects and a feasibility report by RITES on the suburban railway project. For the convenience of the public, it was decided to modify the metro line to Kempegowda International Airport. 
The revised metro line would pass through Nagawara, Hebbal and Jakkur. The revised plan increases the length of the line from 29 km to 38 km. The cost increases from Rs. 5,950 crore to Rs. 10,584 crore. The earlier plan did not include Hebbal.
A Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, has decided to construct a metro line from Silk Board Junction to K.R. Puram at an estimated cost of Rs. 5,994 crore. The cost was escalated by Rs. 1,792 crores owing to an increase in land cost, requirement of a large tract of land and price escalation.
