Blood bank on the anvil in Ponda sub-district hospital

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has assured to start a blood bank at the sub-district hospital at Ponda within six months’ time while the PWD Minister Ramakrishna Dhavalikar has announced trauma centre at Farmagudi in premises of Dilasa.
The two were speaking on Saturday after inaugurating ‘Dilasa’ a Hospice palliative care centre for terminally ill patients at Farmagudi. It is a community healthcare project taken up by the Indian Medical Association-Ponda charitable trust. Along with Rane and Dhavalikar, South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar, IMA secretary Dr Amay Kamat, Dr V B Daimodkar and others were also present.
The Health Minister further said that a palliative care centre for terminally ill is the need of the hour considering the present scenario. It is a good step taken by the doctors who are professionals dealing with the health of the people, he said.
