Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah on Sunday attacked Congress president Rahul Gandhi saying the party does not worry about the citizens of the country who die in bomb blasts but they are concerned about the infiltrators who reign havoc on the people.
Adding that 40  lakh infiltrators had been identified in Assam alone, he questioned Gandhi’s intentions as to why he was worried about them.
For the uninitiated, the Supreme Court extended to December 31 the deadline for filing claims and objections for the inclusion of names in the National Register of Citizens (NRC) for Assam by those who have been left out in the draft NRC.
The draft NRC was published on July 30 in which names of 2.89 crores of the 3.29 crore people were included. The names of 40,70,707 people did not figure in the list. Of these, 37,59,630 names have been rejected and the remaining 2,48,077 are on hold.
