Maharashtra slum dwellers get titles for houses

The Maharashtra government has begun rolling out a project under which slum dwellers living on private land will titles to their houses with minimum conditions.
Announcing this at a function in Nagpur on Sunday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the government was working on a scheme under which the owners of the land on which the slums stand will also be given benefits. In Nagpur alone, more than two lakh slum dwellers will benefit from the proposal, Fadnavis said at the event.
