Land for setting up steel plant in Kadapa identified

M. Kambaladinne village of Mylavaram mandal in the district, which falls under the Jammalamadugu revenue division, has been chosen for laying the foundation stone for the Rayalaseema steel plant. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will perform the ceremonial ‘bhumi puja’ there on December 27.
B. Sridhar, Secretary of Mines and Geology, who is also Chairman of A.P. Mines Development Corporation (APMDC), on Thursday made a visit to the rocky terrain near the village with vice-chairman Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary and Collector Ch. Hari Kiran in tow.
A whopping 3,147 acres of land has been earmarked for the ambitious project, which is considered a boon to the backward Rayalaseema region. The officials inspected the site for installing the pylon, performing the ‘bhumi puja’ and the venue of the public meeting to be addressed by the Chief Minister.
Mr. Hari Kiran directed the engineering officials to ready the land on a war-footing as the deadline was fast approaching. Joint Collector P. Koteswara Rao, RDO Naganna, Assistant Director (Mines and Geology) Chandra Mouli, and Superintending Engineer (Panchayat Raj) Subba Reddy accompanied the team.
