Shaktikanta Das, the former finance secretary and current member of the finance commission, took oath as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The development came just two days after Urjit Patel resigned as the RBI Governor.
Meanwhile, BJP MP Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday accused Shaktikanta Das of being involved in corrupt activities. He said, “Shaktikanta Das being appointed as RBI Governor is wrong, he has worked closely in corrupt activities with P Chidambaram and even tried to save him in court cases. I don’t know why this was done, I have written a letter to PM against this decision.”
