‘Jaya was wheezing before cardiac arrest’

A cardiothoracic surgeon with Apollo Hospitals told the Commission of Inquiry looking into the death of Jayalalithaa that the former Chief Minister was wheezing and breathless for three hours before she suffered cardiac arrest.
Sources said L.F. Sridhar, who appeared as a witness before the Justice (Retd.) A. Arumughaswamy Commission said that he had been told by two doctors that Jayalalithaa had experienced wheezing.
Dr. Sridhar said he was briefed at 6 pm on December 4, 2016. The former suffered a cardiac arrest at 4.20 pm. The doctor also told the Commission that he had been told that medicines brought about no change in the her breathlessness.
