Malabar Hill British name, change it to Ramnagari: Shiv Sena corporator

Renaming game continues. After cities in Uttar Pradesh were renamed by BJP’s Yogi Adityanath-led government, now its ally in Maharashtra, the newly friend-turned-foe Shiv Sena, has proposed to change the name of city’s posh area Malabar Hill.
A Shiv Sena corporator in Mumbai civic body has suggested changing the name of Malabar Hill to Ramnagari. The corporator from Kurla, Dilip Lande has proposed to rename Malabar Hill to Ramnagari after Lord Ram. He had also reasoned that ‘Malabar Hill’ is an English name and hence, needed to be changed.
Lande’s letter to the BMC stated: “The area was named after Malabaris and the name was given by the British. On the way to rescue Sita, it is believed that Ram, along with Lakshman, stopped in the neighbourhood. The area should be named after Lord Ram as Ramnagari.” Dilip Lande’s proposal of renaming will come up for discussion in December’s general body meetings of the BMC.
