Governor calls for building a compassion-filled world

Emphasizing that unity in diversity was unique to India, which was a synthesis of diverse social and cultural elements, governor PB Acharya called on everyone to strive for building a world free from malice and full of brotherhood and compassion to take the country to new heights.

Addressing the inaugural session of a three-day national seminar on the theme “India’s North East, A Celebration of (Indigenous) Cultures: A Phenomenological Approach” at St Joseph’s College, Jakhama on Friday, Acharya said the Northeast had the potential to be on a par with rest of the country, but for that the people must work towards achieving that goal.

Observing that the region was blessed with abundant natural resources, he remarked that to tap these resources, educational institutions needed to play an important role. He said skill development courses in line with the need of the region should be introduced to benefit students. Unless Northeast developed, India would not develop, he stressed.
