Tripura tribal party to launch 6-hour blockade on NH-08 against Citizenship amendment bill

Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT) announced Thursday that it would launch a six-hour blockade along the National Highway 08 in protest against the proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016.
The protest would be held along the highway considered as the lifeline of Tripura, before the commencement of the winter session of the Parliament on December 11.
Speaking to reporters, INPT general secretary Jagadish Debbarma on Thursday said the tribal party convened a meeting of its central working committee on November 12.
“We decided in that meeting that we will organize district level rally and gatherings against the proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill. But situation is compelling us to rectify and revise our decision and directly go for National Highway blockade for 6 hours. So, we are contemplating to postpone the district-wise events for now”, Debbarma said.
