A Local Court in Morbi Monday remanded Congress MLA Parsottam Sabariya to police custody for a day after authorities recovered Rs 40,000 cash and a cheque worth Rs 25 lakh from the residence of alleged middleman Bharat Ganeshiya in Halvad. The MLA was arrested by police on Sunday for allegedly demanding Rs 40 lakh for not exposing an alleged scam in repairing check-dams and minor irrigation schemes in the district.
Police had sought a three-day remand of Sabariya for his custodial interrogation. Ganeshiya, a lawyer based in Halvad was also sent to police remand till Tuesday.
