Sabarimala row: CPI(M)'s Kodiyeri Balakrishnan demands that NSS changes stand on women entry

CPI(M) State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has demanded that the Nair Service Society (NSS) change its stand on the Sabarimala women entry issue.
He told the media here on Sunday that the NSS's stand was against the spirit of renaissance values upheld by Mannath Padmanabhan, who founded the organisation. Mr. Balakrishnan pointed out that it was leaders like Padmanabhan who took forward to the ideals of social reformer Chattampi Swamikal by organising a march of the upper caste Hindus seeking permission for temple entry for the lower castes. It seemed that G. Sukumaran Nair, general secretary of the NSS, had been overwhelmed by emotions influenced by [religious] beliefs.
