PMO Summons CBI Chief Alok Verma And Special Director Rakesh Asthana Amid Internal Rift

Amid ongoing rift within the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday summoned investigating agency’s chief Alok Verma and his deputy Rakesh Asthana. The development comes a day after the probe agency filed a bribery case against its Special Director Rakesh Asthana for allegedly receiving bribes from middlemen Manoj Prasad to give relief to a businessman being probed by him in a case involving meat exporter Moin Qureshi.
Meanwhile, the CBI has also arrested  its Deputy SP, SIT CBI Devendra Kumar in connection with the bribery charges against Asthana. Kumar had worked with Asthana in Qureshi case who is facing multiple cases of money laundering and corruption.
