The doors of the shrine of Lord Ayyappa in Sabarimala opened on Wednesday evening for the first time after the Supreme Court verdict allowing women of all ages to worship in the temple.
Nilackal, the entry point of the temple, turned into a venue of protests by various groups that opposed the entry of younger women to the shrine.
