PM Modi, Xi Jinping to Meet in Argentina in November: Chinese Ambassador

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and China President Xi Jinping will meet in November in Argentina, said Chinese ambassador on Monday. Speaking ahead of the meeting, the Chinese ambassador said that both India and China were against terrorism and that both the countries shared a lot of common interests, specifically in Afghanistan.
The ambassador stated that both China and India wanted that peace prevailed in Afghanistan. He went on to add that China’s focus is connectivity from North-South Connectivity project or China-Pakistan-Afghanistan connectivity.
PM Modi had earlier met Chinese President Xi Jinping for the first bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Uzbekistan. PM Modi’s then meeting with the Chinese President assumed significance in the backdrop of India’s attempts to get the membership of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG). China had earlier changed track on India’s entry into the elite club, saying only applications of those countries that signed an atomic Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) will be considered.
