BRTS trial run begins; fares same as NWKRTC

The much-delayed Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) between Hubballi and Dharwad was partially launched through a trial run between BSNL office near Head Post Office and Unkal on Tuesday.
Although still many works are pending, the former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, who formally launched the trial run, expressed the hope that the BRTS bus services would become functional completely on November 1 this year.
Admitting that there many works still pending, Mr. Shettar, however, said that BRTS officials were taking steps to complete the works at the earliest so as to meet their own deadline of November 1. Mr. Shettar, who along with Pro-Tem Chairman of Legislative Council Basvaaraj Horatti, Member of Parliament Pralhad Joshi, MLAs Prasad Abbayya and Arvind Bellad and others travelled on a Chigari (name given to BRTS buses) service till Unkal Cross, said that instructions had been issued to officials on some of the remaining works.
