Stalin’s corruption claims baseless and malicious, says Thangamani

Dismissing DMK president M.K. Stalin’s allegation of corruption in the procurement of wind power as baseless and malicious, Electricity Minister P. Thangamani on Friday said Tamil Nadu was still a “power-surplus State”, as there was “no shortage of coal”.
Addressing mediapersons after inspecting coal stock at the Tuticorin Thermal Power Station (TTPS), Mr. Thangamani said the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco), which had “not given even a penny” to the wind power generation firm, had, in fact, issued a notice to a private thermal power station after it had failed to pay ₹9.17 crore to Tangedco. As the firm had obtained an interim stay on Tangedco’s notice, efforts were on to vacate the interim stay, he said.
