TRS forced Congress to accord Telangana: Harish

Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao refuted the criticism made by All India Congress Committee (AICC) leader Gulam Nabi Azad that Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has no role in according Telangana.
“The comments made by Mr. Azad are not acceptable. The separate State was formed only after Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao commenced fast unto death as the pressure was built up on the Centre,” said Mr. Harish Rao while participating in ‘Unanimous resolution’ programme held at Ibrahimpur on Friday.
“Had we achieved Telangana had TRS not been there? What will be the fate of Telangana if special status is accorded to Andhra Pradesh as promised by AICC president Rahul Gandhi?” questioned Mr. Rao. He said that people did not trust Congress despite its claim on formation of separate State and instead they voted for TRS as the party was instrumental in carving the separate State, he said.
