Coordinated moves saved over a lakh: Minister

Industries Minister E.P. Jayarajan has said that coordinated activities launched by the State government involving the armed forces, State government departments, fishermen and people who volunteered for rescue operations could save one lakh people in the flood-affected areas.
“The huge loss caused by the massive floods that ravaged most of the districts would have been much greater but for the State government’s commendable activities coordinating the Army, the Navy, police, Fire and Rescue Services, Home Guards, Forest and Excise personnel, fishermen and youths,” Mr. Jayarajan said at a meet-the-press organised by the Press Club here on Thursday on his first visit after his reinduction into the State Cabinet.
