Pak Army Chief Wants Peace, Our Government Must Take a Step Ahead: Navjot Singh Sidhu

After facing flak over attending Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s swearing-in ceremony, Indian cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu on Saturday asked the Indian government to take a step ahead in peace initiative between the two neighbours. “It’s our duty that we go back and ask our govt to take a step ahead. I hope if we take one step forward, people here will take two steps forward,” the Congress leader and Punjab minister asserted.
Sidhu further stated that Pak Army chief Gen Bajwa hugged him and said,”He (Bajwa) want peace. Today morning, General Bajwa came to me and said we were thinking of opening Kartarpur route on 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev.”
Notably, Sidhu’s statement comes hours after he was spotted  hugging Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the President House prior to oath taking ceremony.
