In the wake of the heavy rainfall in the state, Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy will on Saturday review relief operations being carried out in rain-hit Kodagu. Before visiting Kodagu, the CM will chair a high-level meeting to review the situation. On August 19, he is expected to visit Nanjangood and Kabini.
“Rescue operations will be over by evening. CM will visit Kodagu today to review flood situation. Relief camps have been set up for people. Food, water, doctors and facilities have been made available to them in relief camps,” state minister Sa Ra Mahesh said, ANI tweeted.
A press release from the Chief Minister’s office said that Kumaraswamy directed Kodagu district in-charge minister Sara Mahesh to get the supply of relief materials from Mysuru. In last few days, incessant rains have caused multiple landslides in Makanur area, leading to blockage of the Kodagu-Mangalore highway in Karnataka and disruption in normal lives on Friday.
