320 doctors to be appointed in government hospitals

Health Minister Shivananda Patil has said that the process of appointing 320 specialist doctors to fill up vacant posts in government hospitals of the State has reached its final stage.
He told presspersons at the office of KBJNL (Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Limited) at Almatti dam here on Saturday that the government was also in the process of appointing other medical staff such as nurses.
Admitting that he was receiving several complaints of dialysis units not functioning owing to frequent power cuts, causing severe inconvenience to patients, the Minister said that the government has decided to provide generators to all government hospitals in order to resolve the issue. With regard to establishment of a government medical college in Vijayapura city, Mr. Patil said that he has been putting pressure on the government to grant one college to the district but Water Resources Minister D.K. Shivakumar “took away” one college for his constituency. “I hope that in the coming budget, I will get one college for our district too”, he said.
