U. Pratibha Hari, MLA, broke down during a public function on Friday, lamenting the rising number of road accidents due to official apathy. Inaugurating the valedictory function of Subhayatra, a traffic awareness programme organised under the aegis of the district police at Kayamkulam, the MLA said she had faced bitter experiences from authorities. Because of their negligent attitude, she could not do much to avert accidents. “Accidents recur in Kayamkulam. However, both the traffic police and authorities are lax about it. They are not ready to place a signboard. I have written to the District Collector and threatened to go on protest demanding measures to bring down the road accidents,” she said.
