Sanction of Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh will be Telangana’s biggest loss. It could revive old tensions between the two Telugu States, Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukender Reddy said on Wednesday.
It would not only open the debate on an individual State’s eligibility for the SCS, based on economic backwardness, but also promote unhealthy competition among the States, he said.
Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Mr. Sukender Reddy expressed fear that Telangana State would turn into nothing but a barren place if A.P. were sanctioned the status, “a timely invitation for all the industrialists to move there to claim tax incentives.”
