Breaking down in public detrimental to coalition, say JD(S) leaders

The Janata Dal (Secular) leaders and workers are upset over Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy shedding tears at a function on Saturday. They are worried about the Opposition BJP politicising the issue to attack the JD(S)-Congress coalition government at a time when the Lok Sabha polls are round the corner.
Some senior leaders are defending the Chief Minister by describing it as an “emotional outburst”. At the same time, they also cautioned him that breaking down in public would be detrimental to the coalition government.
Defending the Chief Minister, Animal Husbandry Minister Venkatarao Nadagouda said Mr. Kumaraswamy’s tears were a testimony of the concern he had for people and their problems. “Those who have faith in humanity can understand the tears of Mr. Kumaraswamy, but not those who are stone-hearted,” he said, adding that in just two months, the Chief Minister had done whatever was possible to help the people and envisaged pro-people programmes.
