Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) (JD-U) President on Monday said that they supported simultaneous elections on ideologicial ground but there’s no favourable situation for it at present. Speaking to reporters, a day after party’s national executive meet, the Bihar CM claimed,”Forget 2019, don’t think it’s (simultaneous elections) possible even in 2024.”
“Several provisions will have to be discarded. Atmosphere should be created so it  can be implemented in future. We favour it (One Nation One Election) on ideological ground. But there’s no favourable situation for it today,” Nitish asserted.
His statement came a day after the JD(U) passed a resolution backing one nation one election or simultaneous elections. The party at the national executive meeting in New Delhi on Sunday had said that the procedure of simultaneous elections would help curb black money and excessive expenditure.
