No fissure over Cabinet berths in Karnataka: G.T. Deve Gowda

Dismissing reports of a rift in the Congress-JD(S) coalition over Cabinet berth allocation, JD(S) MLA for Chamundeshwari G.T. Deve Gowda on Tuesday said Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy would soon be forming his group of Ministers.
“One of the reasons for the delay in Cabinet formation is that Congress president Rahul Gandhi is on a foreign tour,” Mr. Gowda said, admitting that there were many ministerial aspirants in his party.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Gowda said all 37 JD(S) MLAs may be aspiring for Cabinet places. Likewise, there are ministerial aspirants in the Congress as well. “This is not a worrying factor. Mr. Kumaraswamy is taking all factors into consideration before forming his Cabinet, with an eye on running the government for the full five years,” he said.
He said the matter is also being discussed with senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad. The Cabinet formation is most likely to be done by Friday, Mr. Gowda said.
