Plaint to EC on BJP’s Mahadayi claims

The Congress has lodged a complaint against Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the Chief Election Commissioner for “peddling lies to mislead voters” and violation of model code of conduct. The complaint lodged by senior Congress leader and Minister H.K. Patil lists three instances during his speech in Gadag on Saturday. He has demanded that the EC reprimand the Prime Minister and also “advise him to clarify to the public the correct facts consistent with the dignity of his office”.
Mr. Modi had alleged that Congress had complicated the Mahadayi river water dispute by approaching the tribunal. In their complaint, Congress hit back, saying when the Karnataka government lodged a complaint with the tribunal in 2010, the BJP was ruling the State. Mr. Modi had further claimed they would find a solution if the party was voted to power, to which Congress has claimed was misleading as the matter was pending before the tribunal.
