The Meghalaya government would take up with the Centre for making a land custom station (LCS) functional at Balat along the Indo-Bangla border in East Khasi Hills district.
Meghalaya Home Minister James K Sangma in his reply in the State Assembly on Thursday to a query raised by Congress MLA from Mawsynram, HM Shangpliang said the District Industries Centre of the State had sent a team a week ago to examine the proposal and a report was submitted.
Sangma said that during the 10th bilateral meeting between India and Bangladesh held in New Delhi, it was agreed to examine the need to re-open the Balat LCS.
He also informed that the report was forwarded to the Central government for taking necessary action based on the report received from the State government.
