Committee Probing Karnataka Poll Dates Faux Pas Says There Was No Leak

Though the tweets by BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya and Congress spokesman Srivatsa B. announcing the Karnataka election schedule even before the chief election commissioner O.P. Rawat had done so on March 27 had created quite a stir, with the opposition claiming that the poll schedule had been leaked to the ruling national party from the Election Commission (EC) itself, a probe by a committee of officers constituted by the EC has held that the “alleged leak was not a leak and was a mere speculation”.
The committee, comprising director general Dhirendra Ojha, senior deputy election commissioner Umesh Sinha and deputy election commissioners Chandra Bhushan Kumar and Sandeep Saxena, in its report stated that its terms of reference included probing the source of information for the alleged leak.
