Owaisi slams BJP over rape cases in Kathua

Instead of fasting over Parliament impasse Prime Minister Narendra Modi should fast for ‘thousands of farmers’ who have committed suicide, Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi said.
Speaking to media persons at party headquarters here on Wednesday he said: “The Prime Minister wants to fast for losing a whole Parliament session. I want to ask the Prime Minister, where has his sense of duty gone? In the last four years thousands of farmers have lost their lives. Will he sit on a fast for these farmers?” Referring to the atrocities on Dalits he asked whether the PM would express solidarity with them by sitting on a fast.
Mr. Owaisi He lashed out at the BJP for the Kathua and Unnao cases and said they signal the end of humanism. He claimed that the PM’s calls of ‘Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao’ ring hollow. Touching upon the Kathua case in which a minor was raped, he said: “This is a classic example of the hypocrisy that his own party MLAs have staged taken out a protest with a tricolour in hand in support of the rape accused,” he said. He also lashed out at the law and order situation in Unnao.
