Manipur: Congress alleges BJP of violating SC’s order by appointing 12 MLAs as Parl Secys

After the Delhi High Court restored the assembly membership of 20AAP MLAs who were disqualified for holding offices of profit, the Congress on Friday demanded that ruling party MLAs in Delhi and 12 MLAs in Manipur should resign on moral ground for violating constitutional laws.
It also alleged that one Congress MLA in Manipur, T.H. Shyamkumar, defected just after the announcement of the result and was appointment a minister in the state cabinet by the BJP. “He has not even resigned and is still continuing as a minister in the most blatant act of illegality and sheer political opportunism,” it said.
Referring to Supreme Court’s order issued on July 26 last year, All India Mahila Congress president Sushmita Dev said that the Supreme Court had declared the post of Parliamentary Secretary as unconstitutional. But BJP & AAP MLAs have blatantly violated this SC order by appointing parliamentary secretary in Manipur and Delhi respectively.
