27-year-old man lynched to death near Sattur

27-year-old man from a village near Sattur in Virudhunagar district, was beaten to death after he reportedly opposed the unanimous nomination of an AIADMK functionary as panchayat president.
The panchayat seat has been brought under general category this time, the members of the Naidu community had on Wednesday organised a meeting to elect a candidate from their community.
Police said that the deceased had opposed the Naidu community unanimously nominating a ruling party functionary A.Ramasubbu, 47, to contest for the post of the president of Kottaipatti Panchayat.
The deceased, identified as V Sathiskumar, was rushed to a government hospital in Sivakasi, where he was declared brought dead.
The Police sources said that seven persons including Ramasubbu have been picked for questioning.
