TN State Election Commission take stock of the situation ahead of local body polls
State Election Commissioner R. Palaniswamy, chaired a meeting through video-conference, to review arrangements ahead of rural local body polls.
Mr. Palaniswamy directed the officials to take steps for boosting security in vulnerable booths, setting up of counting centres and monitoring of expenditure of candidates.
Except nine districts, which includes the newly-constituted districts, rural local bodies in 27 districts are going for the two-phase polls which will be held on December 27 and 30.
Filing of nomination began on Monday, while December 16 is the last date for filing nominations. The results will be announced on January 2.
In the first phase 8,65,259 voters will exercise their franchise, the remaining 7,61,951 would caste their vote in the second phase.
