Dependants bank on Centre to restart mining
- Goa Mining People’s Front (GMPF) on Thursday said that the state government’s action of filing the review petition in the Supreme Court is “delayed.”
- GMPF president Puti Gaonkar said, “We welcome the government’s filing of the review petition in the Goa mining matter.”
- The representative body of former employees of mining companies and their families, the delay has resulted in massive adverse impact on the lives of all mining dependants.
- Members of GMPF met the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for early resumption of mining.
- The review petition is against the Supreme Court order in February 2018 that quashed 88 iron ore leases and closed down the local mining industry.
